A drawing, the materials and finish spelled out, and a flat price. Nothing gets cut before you approve it.

We Build and Finish It

Filled, caulked and finished — in our shop or in place, whichever suits the piece — then installed. We clean up behind ourselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as carpentry work?
Anything built out of wood and fastened to your house: built-ins, cabinetry, shelving, benches, closets, trim, doors, stairs, plank ceilings, porch ceilings and exterior trim. If it's freestanding furniture you bought in a box, that's handyman assembly instead.
Can you match the trim and cabinets already in my house?
Usually, yes. We match the profile, the species and the finish so the new work reads as original rather than added on. Where an exact profile is no longer made, we'll show you the closest options before we order anything.
Do you finish it, or just build it?
We finish it. Filled, sanded, caulked, and primed and painted or stained — in our shop or in place, depending on the piece. A built-in that arrives raw and waits months for a painter is a half-finished job.
My walls aren't square. Is that a problem?
No — that's the normal condition, especially in older homes and anything built against masonry. Our work gets scribed and shimmed to the wall you actually have, which is the main reason it looks better than a stock cabinet pushed into the same opening.
What does a built-in cost?
It depends on the size, the materials and the finish — a run of floating shelves and a wall of inset cabinetry are not in the same range. The estimate is free, and you get a flat price in writing before we start.
